The Meaning of Life..

This writing is stating the meaning of life. I am 21-years-old, but I have faith in my understanding to try and describe to you the meaning of life. The meaning of life has been by convention an unanswerable question. I disagree.

Simply, the meaning of life is happiness. Ha! Some people reading this probably think that is stupid. An answer so simple cannot possibly say it all. I will make you believe, and you will not prove me wrong. I will undeniably shoot you down; you will have your own theories of the meaning of life, but they all fit under one category.

A good number of people are going to say “GOD! God is the meaning of life.” That is a very good theory; however, religion does fit under the category of happiness. Practicing religion makes people happy. Some of the happiest people are without a doubt religious people. The atheist might say they are wasting their lives away serving someone that does not exist, but does that matter? We are talking about life not afterlife. The religious person is happy to do what they do, and the atheist can be just as happy living every day like it is his or her last for eternity.

Others might say that love is the meaning of life. Finding your soul mate, that special someone whom you share a profound understanding, loving, and caring for that person is happiness. Yes! Love is happiness. Any reason that anyone does anything is because that one thing makes that one person happy for that moment in their life.

I am not saying that everyone should do whatever they feel like. With choices come consequences. Consequences are very important in making a decision. A person will be happy whether they make a decision so they get a desired result immediately or if they believe the consequence will give them a desired result later. A person can steal something and be happy with what they have for that time. When and if they get caught they might not be happy anymore; the only way for happiness to be lacking is in consequence. People can only perform actions for happiness, not sadness or anything else. A person with depression problems might cut themselves. No, they did not do it to make themselves hurt physically; there is another reason and it makes them happy. They feel accomplishment in what they have done whether it makes sense to someone else or not. No matter what the motive; an action is always performed for happiness.

Of course, this is only a theory. Just as you cannot prove me wrong, I cannot prove that what I speak of is absolute truth. No one can possibly know exactly what consequence will be. We as people should live for happiness. Weigh your consequences well and make good choices. We are given only one chance to make every decision.
